“Cäsars Tod (Caesar’s Death)”

Comp. Kurt Weill / Georg Kaiser

I used sheet music (the piano & vocal score by Universal Edition, 1933) as well as an audio recording (Ute Lemper, 1988) to create this adaptation & orchestration for a nine-piece theater band (+ vocalist) to use in a cabaret show.

“For Roy Hargrove”

Comp. Josh Levinson

I used an existing Sibelius file from a jazz big band composer & consulted with them to create this reformatting of the score & parts to better represent the composer’s intentions, increase efficiency or rehearsal time, & improve overall performance.

“If I Tell You I Love You”

Rec. Melody Gardot

I used an audio recording (Melody Gardot, 2012) to create this transcription & reduction (to a grand staff lead sheet) for a jazz vocalist to perform with a small jazz group (but with enough flexibility to be playable with ensembles of a variety of sizes & instrumentations).

“In The Wee Small Hours…”

Rec. Oscar Peterson Trio

I used an audio recording (Oscar Peterson Trio, 1961) to create this transcription of an excerpt from Oscar Peterson’s performance of this David Mann & Bob Hillard jazz standard for use in jazz education settings.
